Furuholmen was commissioned to make a stamp for the Royal Norwegian Mail, and decided to break from the tradition of reducing the work to be depicted with and work directly with the actual size of the stamp, resulting in a series of prints and monotypes and an exhibition of the works. This challenge of working on a minute scale after several projects involving gigantic prints proved inspirational. The artist’s ambition was to create monumental images in miniature format.
